What is AEOS?
The Agri-Environment Options Scheme (AEOS) was set up in 2010 to replace REPS.
The objective of the AEOS is:
- To meet the challenges of conserving and promoting biodiversity, encouraging water management and water quality measures and combating climate change (Dept Agri, Food and the Marine, 2014).
AEOS differs from REPS as the farm in its entirety is not incorporated, actions instead are taken for specific areas of the farm holding, e.g. hedgerows, tree planting, fencing off watercourses and hedges etc. In order to qualify for payments under the scheme farmers must apply specific biodiversity options similar to those outlined under REPS4. OCAE Consultants liaise with clients to meet these biodiversity objectives. Our Consultants are qualified to prepare AEOS plans.
