Nitrates Records

The Nitrates Directive was introduced in 1991 to improve water quality by reducing water pollution caused by nitrates from agricultural sources. It also aims to promote good farming practice. The latest revision was released in 2017 (Statutory Instrument 605).

In order to monitor and reduce the levels of nitrate produced on farm, annual records have to be completed and maintained by farmers. Maintaining Nitrates records is an element of Cross-Compliance with the Basic Payment Scheme.

OCAE provide the service of completing annual records for client farmers.
