The destination event for sustainability and energy managers and practitioners has returned to the NEC Birmingham for 21-22 May 2019, with an action-packed programme dedicated to helping organisations of all sizes and across all sectors to achieve a sustainable future, today.

Under the brand new show theme of “turning ambition into ACTION”, this year’s event is tailor-made to provide sustainability, energy and resource efficiency professionals with the inspiration and solutions needed to achieve a low-carbon, resource efficient and profitable future for their organisations.

More than 100 industry experts appeared on stage for the first day of edie Live 2019 – including esteemed environmental journalist and broadcaster Lucy Siegle, who kicked off the proceedings in the Sustainability Keynote Theatre with a panel discussion exploring the key external drivers, challenges and opportunities that are together shaping our green business future.

edie also published its second annual report for the Mission Possible campaign, exploring how green business ambitions have been scaled up over the past 12 months – and how these ambitions can become ambitious actions with measurable positive impacts.

The first day of the show also featured a Live Plastics Thinkathon; workshops on topics ranging from energy storage to alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), and the start of our 24-hour Future Systems Hackathon in association with our sister show, Utility Week Live.

As we head into Day Two, more than than 100 expert speakers – ranging from disruptive innovators and chief executives to the next generation of sustainability and energy managers – will keep the discussion going across four seminar stages, namely the Energy, Circular Economy, Innovation and Sustainability Keynote Theatres. Today, the SDGs will be taking centre stage, with all discussions at the Sustainability Keynote Theatre dedicated to the 17 Global Goals.

On Day Two (Wednesday), a high-level session at the Sustainability Keynote Theatre will delve into how businesses of all sizes and in all sectors can align their strategies with the SDGs, complete with best-practice case studies from those already leading the way.

Meanwhile, debates across the Energy, Circular Economy and Innovation Theatres will discuss topics ranging from plastics to partnerships, supply chains to rising sustainability stars.

edie Live is also offering up a range of new features this year, making it a must-attend event to help you achieve a low-carbon, resource efficient and profitable future.

Show features for Day Two include (click the links for more info):

FUTURE SYSTEMS HACKATHON RESULTS – A brand-new, live, 24-hour hackathon will unite edie’s audience of energy and sustainability managers with our sister title Utility Week’s audience of utilities industry professionals – along with teams of hackers and tech experts – to solve real-world problems and accelerate the shift towards future business systems. Topics being ‘hacked’ include big energy data and demand response-based energy management.

EV SHOWROOM & CHARGING HUB – Our Electric Vehicle (EV) Showroom returns for 2019, bringing to life how EVs can be implemented by businesses and help reduce carbon footprint as part of a sustainability strategy.

PLASTICS HUB – Our hugely popular Mission Possible Plastics Hub content is coming to life. Over the two days, the show will house a dedicated area for industry professionals to connect with one another, share circular economy ideas, meet packaging solutions providers, and discover ground-breaking plastic waste innovations. Designed by edie’s editorial team, this special area of the show will include single-use plastics roundtable discussions, packaging solutions stands and a professionally facilitated live plastics ‘Thinkathon’.

ADVICE CLINICS – One of our most popular offerings, the edie Live advice clinics return for 2019, allowing visitors free 20-minute, one-to-one consultations with experts across a full range of sustainability and energy topics that are material to their business.

MISSION POSSIBLE WORKSHOPS – Another popular feature of 2019, our Mission Possible Workshops provide visitors with a unique opportunity to collaborate with peers to solve the key challenges and opportunities they are facing in their mission to achieve a sustainable future. Starting with a blank sheet of paper, pre-allocated groups will discuss the issues that we face, share ‘war stories’ and work together to create a unique solution to the topic. Workshops were fully booked last year so register early to secure your spot.

THE MISSION POSSIBLE SOFA – Join the edie editorial team for some well-earned sofa talk as we interview a range of industry experts on key sustainability and themes – live on camera in a talk-show style. Watch last year’s Mission Possible Sofa episodes here.

CO-LOCATION WITH UTILITY WEEK LIVE – As an additional draw for edie Live visitors, our sister show Utility Week Live will explore the tech and product solutions transforming the way that gas, water and electricity utilities do business.
