The objective of the 2026 National Sheep Welfare Scheme (2026 NSWS) is to further enhance animal health and welfare on sheep farms.

Applications will be accepted after the 15 May closing date. However, there will be a 1% per working day penalty applied, as per the Terms and Conditions. Late applications will be accepted, subject to payment deductions, until midnight on Tuesday, 9 June 2026.

Eligibility:

• Have an active Ovine DAFM Herd Number.
• Have submitted a valid 2026 BISS application.
• Have submitted a 2025 Sheep Census by 15th February 2026 with breeding ewes declared.
